The question is Lamela or Chadli? 3

With the appointment of Tim Sherwood comes a coach that, at the moment at least, is happy and content to trust the younger less experienced players. Against Southampton in what was his first premiership game in charge of the team some might have questioned whether Erik Lamela should have started the game, here was a player struggling to settle into the way of life, the football and the language, gone was the coach who could at least speak the same language and in his place came Tim Sherwood who speaks something like “Del Boy” barking out instruction.

How long does it take to perform miracles? 21

We are all upset and disappointed by Sunday’s performance and the result, so much so that some supporters are calling for the head of AVB as they have become disillusioned with his tactics and his team both in terms of performance and style. You might have seen some of the ridiculous comments by some on this site and on almost every article written about Tottenham. There have been blogs, articles, talk-ins, forums and twitter comments pretty much all designed to decry the work of AVB. I have lost count of how many times I have read that the supporters want their Tottenham back, Tottenham a team renowned for playing the game the right way, playing with flair and scoring spectacular goals and lots of them.

Tottenham v Chelsea-Afterthoughts. 10

For much of the second half of yesterdays game most Tottenham supporters were a little concerned that Chelsea might turn such obvious first half inferiority into all three points. Fortunately at periods in the second half the defence earned their corn as Hugo Lloris polled off a couple of good stops while Jan Vertonghen would not be beaten by a Fernando Torres who might have just had his best half hour in all his time with Chelsea.

Tottenham midfield is up to the challenge. 0

Southern softies, no fight, soft underbelly, how many times has the Tottenham team and in particular their midfield been referred to in such a way? Well no longer, AVB has not just one midfielder prepared to fight and battle but a squad full of players prepared to give their all for the cause.

If you thought that this was already the greatest transfer window in Tottenham’s history before today then prepare to be stunned tomorrow as it is possible that three more great new signings could well be pulled out of the bag in time to be paraded at some stage of tomorrow’s European second leg tie.

Roma have confirmed an agreement for Lamela to leave for Tottenham and have bought Ljajic as his replacement for 11m euros, Steaua have finally agreed a deal for Chiriches and it is believed that he is already in London to complete all the formalities and just to add another piece of the jigsaw Marc Overmars has confirmed that Ajax have given permission for Tottenham to speak with Christian Eriksen.

The rumours are getting louder and louder even to the point that Gareth Bale has been sighted in Madrid and might well be undergoing a thorough medical examination. It seems that Tottenham have finally agreed to do business at 120m euros which is the equivalent of the £105m demanded by Daniel Levy, now there’s a surprise.

Levy set to land £140m of improvements for nothing. 1

The crescendo is building as the news is about to hit that Daniel Levy has cemented his position as the greatest Chairman the game has ever seen. Already Tottenham have purchased four fantastic new players and all represent improvements on the players that have been released. As much as Tom Huddlestone and Scott Parker were appreciated by the vast majority of Tottenham supporters there is absolutely no doubt that Paulinho and Capoue represent a vast improvement in speed, stamina, power, aerial ability and quality, similarly the same can be said of Chadli for Dempsey while there is no doubt whatsoever that Soldado is a cut or two above the strikers Tottenham have and is probably one of the top ten strikers in the world.

Tottenham about to join the elite. 0

With rumours abounding of transfer deals about to be completed for the likes of Willian and Lamela, both of whom might break the club transfer record already shattered twice this summer, Tottenham are clearly intent on building a squad to eventually compete against the very best and that is domestically and in Europe.

A little over two years ago Tottenham reached the quarter final of the Champions League where they finished up comfortably beaten by Real Madrid, take a look at the team and substitutes on that day and then let’s compare to the current squad in terms of quality.

With just a couple of weeks remaining of this transfer window we are now reaching a crucial stage, the league has started in both England and Spain and as a result clubs will be anxiously assessing their position in relation to squad strength and numbers.

In Spain Barcelona have started off like a train with a 7-0 win while more interestingly Real Madrid struggled after falling behind to Real Betis and only notching a 2-1 win with a goal in the last few minutes. Even this early it is clear that Madrid might again struggle to overcome Barcelona in their domestic league, Neymar was only introduced into the team in the second half so it would seem there is still far more to come from them. Perez and Zidane will quickly panic and seek to inject more into the team and Bale is the player they want.

Tottenham transformation continues in earnest. 0

Hardly a day goes by without Tottenham being linked in numerous ways with transfers in and out and there is no sign of a let up as Daniel Levy, Franco Baldini and the coaches go about creating the most powerful squad possible with the funds available and within the wage limitations imposed.
