Sympathy for the “Tottenham 3” 0

When Tottenham parted ways with Andre Villas-Boas in December last year Daniel Levy had very few reasonable alternatives to fill the gap, it is fairly well known that he tried to secure the services of Louis Van Gaal at the time, but with a World Cup in Brazil for him to look forward to he declined at that time though even then he was probably made aware of possible United interest if Moyes continued to fail. Tottenham seemed to prefer to wait for either Van Gaal or at least until the close season to finally choose the successor going forward.

Where will the best coach Tottenham ever had end up? 1

Odds on to get the WBA job and if not that then the job at Brighton was apparently his for the taking following his sacking from the Tottenham job, weeks later and Tim Sherwood is still looking for work other than an article in the paper on the World Cup that still manages to talk up his time at Tottenham.

WBA appointed Alan Irvine of Everton while Brighton went with Sammi Hypia while Tim must sit and wait for an opportunity again. Presumably he will be using this time to obtain the coaching badges that he actually needs in the long term and hopefully he will find a decent opportunity to develop his management skills somewhere soon.

Sir Les and Ramsey head out of Tottenham. 0

Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey have left Tottenham though whether they were pushed or left for a job elsewhere remains to be seen as no particular explanation was given. Perhaps they will turn up in further employment sometime soon with their cohort Tim Sherwood still looking for some sort of employment. failing to get the nod for the WBA job must have come as a bit of a blow to the self confessed greatest manager of Tottenham.

Perhaps Sherwood and Ferdinand saw the benefit of defensive midfielders tonight? 7

Only last week Les Ferdinand, one of the Tottenham coaches went on record to voice his dislike of defensive midfielders, he was quite honest when he told the media that at Tottenham it is not just him though, the three first team coaches responsible for setting the team up and picking the side on match days all apparently have a total disregard for that type of player. The defensive midfielder were once referred to as the water carriers but in some teams absolutely have always been absolutely vital.

Sherwood confirms Holtby has a Tottenham future but has the coach himself? 0

As it seems likely that this transfer window is likely to come and go without even a Tottenham whimper it is at least encouraging to hear that although Lewis Holtby has gone on loan to Fulham, it is confirmed that it is just until the summer and thereafter Fulham have no automatic right to buy him.  While at the moment Holtby might not be considered to be an automatic choice to start games most fans would not be upset to see him named in any starting lineup as he usually has an impact on games whenever he is involved, his attitude and effort can never be doubted, he is creative and he is capable of scoring a few goals, in fact the more I write and consider the impact he has had the more I am doubting the wisdom of this loan!
