There will be no Townsend or Holtby exit. 0

Posted on August 20, 2014 by Scraggs

Two players seemingly in great demand yet reputed to be unwanted by Pochettino at Spurs are Andros Townsend and Lewis Holtby, if reports are to be believed Southampton are not prepared to give up on acquiring Townsend with an increased bid above the £10m turned down due to be submitted soon. Lewis Holtby seems to have caught the eye of a number of clubs with the most high profile being Everton following the injury to Ross Barkley.

Tottenham transfer news of the day. 3

Posted on August 19, 2014 by Eddie S

As usual Tottenham are heavily involved in the news when it comes to transfer gossip and because our Head Coach said a short while back that he needs to streamline the squad, much of the news is of potential outgoings. Just when it seems that Lewis Holtby is proving himself to be an asset to the team and proficient in the Pochettino way of playing it is suggested that he has been told to find a new club, strange when he has been actively involved in just about every pre-season fixture and was an important member of the squad and team for the opening fixture.

Holtby lacks fight!!!! 0

Felix Magath, the third coach to lead Fulham during this disasterous season has spoken of Lewis Holtby’s lack of fight on the pitch and stated that his choice of destination in this loan period was a mistake! I happen to agree that Holtby hasn’t quite got what it takes to become an ever present in the Tottenham team but he is a very able squad player at the moment, having said that fight and effort is NOT an element lacking from his game based upon what we have seen during his time with Tottenham nor in the games he played for Fulham.

Holtby out, Taarabt in and no new left back. 0

Though the press are searching for any sort of sensationalism as the season draws to a close some of the headlines greeting us today are really very amusing. Tim Sherwood is vociferous in defending Danny Rose and suggesting that Tottenham and their supporters should not give up on him. Lewis Holtby is apparently awaiting on a decision from the club over where his future lies and probably the most far-fetched story of the day is surely the suggestion that Tottenham are keen and in the driving seast to snap up one of their biggest disappointments Adel Taarabt.

Sherwood confirms Holtby has a Tottenham future but has the coach himself? 0

As it seems likely that this transfer window is likely to come and go without even a Tottenham whimper it is at least encouraging to hear that although Lewis Holtby has gone on loan to Fulham, it is confirmed that it is just until the summer and thereafter Fulham have no automatic right to buy him.  While at the moment Holtby might not be considered to be an automatic choice to start games most fans would not be upset to see him named in any starting lineup as he usually has an impact on games whenever he is involved, his attitude and effort can never be doubted, he is creative and he is capable of scoring a few goals, in fact the more I write and consider the impact he has had the more I am doubting the wisdom of this loan!

Holtby staying, Gomes going and Gaurin a no go. 0

On what has been another slow day some news has leaked out from individuals which has given us something to report on, firstly the good news, apparently Lewis Holtby’s girlfriend has finally moved to London to join the player and unless a surprise £20m bid from Arsenal or Chelsea is about to be lodged then it seems certain that he will be remaining with Tottenham for the foreseeable future. With the news that one of the fans favourites is seemingly set to stay one of their favourites from a few years back, Huerelho Gomes, is off to his old club PSV Eindhoven to resurrect his career.

Will Tom Carroll’s return spell the end for Lewis Holtby? 2

There has been increasing talk of a return to the German Bundesliga for Lewis Holtby as Schalke in particular seek midfield reinforcements this winter. With the news that Tottenham have refused permission to QPR for Tom Carroll to play in this weekends FA Cup fixture while allowing for Assou-Ekotto to play, the suggestion is that Tim Sherwood could be considering withdrawing him from his loan spell at the halfway point.

How many Tottenham changes versus Hull? 4

AVB made seven changes to the team that began Thursdays Europa Cup tie but with the prospect of a Capital One Cup fixture on Wednesday against the same Hull side just who will he pick for this Premier League fixture. Andros Townsend, Paulinho and Kyle Walker were excused the journey on Thursday and will all be certainties to start the game but who else do we expect to start.

Lewis Holtby: Finding fitness and form. 4

Posted on September 23, 2013 by Tony

Over the summer Lewis Holtby was chosen as the captain of the German U21 team which took part in the European Championships, during the tournament he picked up an injury which severely disrupted his preseason and he was only recently able to return to the action. During the transfer window Tottenham brought in a number of high profile midfielders including another playmaker in the form of Christian Eriksen who has had an immediate impact, as a result of all these new additions there was doubt over the future of Lewis Holtby. In his short time in North London he has become a real fans favourite due to his enthusiasm and all action style, but there were rumours that a number of clubs were hoping to pick him up on loan, others have suggested that he will become a target for a few clubs in January. The player himself has said that he is up for the Tottenham challenge and is happy to battle for time on the pitch in what is an exciting talented Tottenham squad.

Inter will fail with £1m bid for Holtby. 0

Posted on September 16, 2013 by Random Spurs Supporter

The Daily Star carries a story that Inter Milan are hoping to take Lewis Holtby from Tottenham for a cut price £1m this winter, can you believe that price? Have they not heard of Daniel Levy? Tottenham apparently paid about £1.5m for Holtby a little over seven months ago but Milan believe that he has struggled for a great deal of playing time this season and that, they say, is the opportunity they are seeking to sign him.
