How are the squads shaping up? 1

Posted on July 30, 2016 by Scraggs

Well we at JTN have enjoyed a nice long break and tried to avoid the farcical transfer merry-go-round as much as possible without getting too involved. As we all know the press and general media whip up a storm with often ridiculous rumour as clubs go about re-shaping their squads for the coming season and now we shall attempt to put our spin on the situation in relation to the probable top clubs which now, rightly, includes Leicester with Tottenham now firmly established in that group.

The Premier League contenders 2016/17. 0

The 2015/16 season was absolutely nothing like many expected and whilst some argue that it was sub standard in quality it is mainly only those obsessed by huge transfer fees and wages, the opinion of the majority was that it was probably one of the best Premier League seasons ever with the hope and belief that the monopoly that has existed for far too long might just have been broken up for ever.

The transfer window has now closed and there will be mixed reaction from supporters up and down the country as to their clubs success or failure, here at JTN we have been making our own observations as to how the top 7 from last season have been faring along the process, now it’s over here is our assessment:-

Manchester United– Wow what can you say about their transfer business in this window but speaking as a Spurs supporter

D-day approaches for Luis”it tastes like chicken”Suarez. 13

We should know in a little over 24 hours the result  of the appeal by Luis Suatez to his total ban from football for 4 months for biting yet another opponent. Of course it seems pretty obvious to y now what the result will be, the World Cup is over for another 4 years and FIFA have bigger fish to fry as they have to deal with yet more corruption charges. The entire situation is surreal at the moment, Suarez is a Barcelona player in all but official announcement but that is probably planned for sometime soon.

It’s turned into a United and Liverpool lovefest. 6

The 2013/14 season was hugely significant for both Liverpool and Manchester United, the previous seasons champions lost their influential manager Alex Ferguson and his handpicked successor David Moyes was sacked before the season was over with the club out of the Champions League for the first time in the Premiership era. At the same time Liverpool managed to find themselves replacing United and at the same time making a decent fist of a tilt at the title. Things had to change at United who managed to find themselves languishing in seventh place

It’s looking like Spurs will lose Bony to Liverpool. 0

Posted on July 30, 2014 by Eddie S

There have been lots of rumours linking Wilfred Bony to Tottenham over the past few weeks partially fueled by the player himself saying that he would only consider leaving Swansea for a top six club, sixth being the operative word. Tottenham have been linked to many a striker with Soldado misfiring so badly last season and Adebayor seemingly having an attitude problem with some coaches. Bony, Benteke and Lukaku are the names frequently mentioned but Benteke is still injured, and by now we all know that Tottenham and Chelsea are unlikely to do business in the foreseeable future unless it suits both parties.

Liverpool are going the route of Tottenham last year. 49

Liverpool and Sky seem to be rolling out all the old names from Liverpools past in some sort of effort to convince everybody that they are not going to fall into the same trap as Tottenham of a year ago, Brendan Rodgers they assure us is a master when it comes to buying players and unlike Tottenham will easily cope with the loss of Suarez and challenge for the title. I agree that he has acquired a few players with premier league experience and that it will help considerably but there are other problems to overcome and at the moment Liverpool look like that will buy even more than the seven of Tottenham.

Between Spurs and Liverpool as Davies bid accepted. 2

Lots of media outlets are now reporting that a bid of £10m from Tottenham for the young left back Ben Davies has been accepted by Swansea, it is further reported that he has been withdrawn from tonights friendly in Milwaukee strongly suggesting that something might in fact be happening.

Tottenham steer clear of transfer window madness. 0

With the official transfer window well underway it seems that just about everybody is going crazy as transfer fees and wages spiral out of control still further. With the Premierleague having an abundance of extra cash following the approximate £50m additional windfall for each and every club arising from the new TV deal just about everybody is keen to spend the money and not always particularly wisely.

The 3 new premiership teams Arsenal, Liverpool and United. 0

We all know that the three teams promoted from the Championship last season were Leicester, Burnley and QPR and we all look forward to seeing how they fare and who they bring in to give them their best chance of survival. We know from yesterdays report that QPR have dispensed with about 15 players from last seasons squad though a great number of them were loans. They will all be active in the market and will hope to add the numbers and quality to enable them to compete in what is the most competitive league in football.
Last summer Tottenham received a massive windfall with a record sum being paid to them for Gareth Bale and they took the opportunity to fill their boots and buy seven new recruits, as we all now know it didn’t quite work out as planned and the severe upheaval had a detrimental effect on the club and performances to some extent, they had the players to take on and beat all but the top clubs and even Arsene Wenger put much of this down to the enormous number of new players and a lack of teamwork as a result.
