Whatever happened to honesty and sportsmanship? 1

On Tuesday Manchester City took on one of the heavyweights of European football Barcelona hoping to show that they had finally arrived themselves as a European force to be reckoned with, though they put up a terrific show they failed to stamp their authority on the game even changing their gameplan to accommodate the opposition, no surprise there had it been the away fixture perhaps. Early in the second half City made a couple of fatal errors, firstly Navas their flying little winger having lost possession of the ball went to ground attempting to gain an advantage by winning a free kick, as their players hesitated Barcelona struck and though the initial contact with Messi might have been fractionally outside the penalty box it was a clear foul, a clear goalscoring opportunity and the referee had no option but show a red card irrespective of whether it was in or out of the box.

Wenger and Arsenal “Specialists in Failure”. 22

Only yesterday someone on this site commented that Jose Mourinho had become a little too big for his boots and his comments and even his voice had begun to grate on them, THEN his comments today about Arsenal and Arsene Wenger earns him some forgiveness and respect for speaking the truth about them from every Tottenham fan. Though he will deny it Mourinho is currently very vocal about the three clubs just behind his Chelsea team in the table, City and Pelligrini had already been targeted and their two results since he began earned them just a single point so now it’s the turn of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Premiership prediction City v Chelsea 35

Tonight the teams immediately behind the currently league leaders Arsenal meet at the Etihad, most everybody but the most ardent of Arsenal and Chelsea supporters make City the firm favourites for the title probably because they are so fluent and are outscoring the opposition so dramatically. A win for City will see them lead the table by the end of the game and will ensure a gap to Mourinho’s Chelsea for the top two.

Tottenham v City Review. 10

Yesterdays game against City clearly showed that Tottenham had it all to do against the team of the moment and one that is surely destined to win the title, probably with some ease, entering the business end of the season, though in my opinion there were far too many mistakes made that gave them an easier outing than they were entitled to. We shall never know whether the outcome might have been different had the correct decisions been made, though City were the better team throughout so were they against Cardiff and Villa, games that they lost.

Cheating Chelsea says fearful Wenger. 5

Following news of the likely transfer of Juan Mata to a Manchester United team that has faltered and become easy prey to any team with sufficient belief, Arsene Wenger has publicly stated that he believes that the deal is as much a plot by Chelsea and Mourinho to manipulate the destiny of the league title. Coming so soon after Chelsea completed their two games against the fading champions Wenger has stated that he thinks the deal has been approved in an attempt to improve United sufficiently to pick up points when they play City and Arsenal so giving Chelsea an advantage in the chase for the title.

Can Spurs really grab that top four spot? 16

With just seventeen games of the season remaining Tottenham are sat in a good position just a couple of points off fourth place although their goal difference probably accounts for another point lost as it has done in previous seasons. The teams immediately in front of Spurs are Everton and Liverpool who both have very different attributes, Everton are tough, resolute, difficult to beat yet under Martinez have also begun to play some excellent football while Liverpool have plenty of goals in them especially while Suarez remains fit or free of suspension.

January transfer window promises to be busiest ever. 0

As the January transfer window approaches and clubs evaluate their requirements based upon form, injuries and what they might look for to consolidate their position or improve upon it, this particular period is likely to see more sales/purchases and a huge amount of funds change hands.
