8 linked with Tottenham exit. 0

Posted on September 01, 2014 by Guest Writer

It looks as though Tottenham are about to ruthlessly reduce their player staff with Pochettino having no more time remaining in which to assess the squad at his disposal, with little more than a dozen hours of the window remaining at least 8 of our senior players are linked with exits. Some are obvious exits as they have failed to make their mark, others might be looking for the exit door having failed to establish themselves in the team and want more time on the pitch.

Performance-good, Result-good, whats not to like? 2

With nine changes to the team that routed QPR it was only to be expected that it would take a while for the team to gel but eventually it did. The second half performance was completely dominating and impressive despite the game having effectively been over with Harry Kane effort in the first half. What was so impressive was the pressing and chasing down of the opposition, it was like a white swarm at times, if the opposition got on the front foot the speed with which they were closed down and Tottenham players got goal side was amazing and they kept it up until the final whistle.

Loan attempts for “flop” Lamela have gone away. 8

Forty-five minutes football in far off Canada last Wednesday  finally put to bed all the stories of Italian interest in the services of Erik Lamela, until then he had been branded an expensive flop by all sections of the media and many of the richest clubs in Italy circled in the hope of picking up a bargain on loan with a view to buying at a knockdown price if a success. One half of excellent football in a friendly against a decent MLS club does not a star make, but to every Tottenham supporter he represents hope and expectation.

Paulinho is not broken he simply needs a break. 0

It is difficult to find many good words written about Tottenham’s midfield dynamo Paulinho, his time at Tottenham has so far been considered a huge let down with criticism even from temporary coach Tim Sherwood in the short time he was in charge of proceedings.Since the Confederation Cup last summer when he was only second to Neymar in the rankings things have changed dramatically for him, until the knockout stages of the World Cup he has been a fixture in the national team but has been criticised from all quarters in Brazil and identified as the weak link and lacking form.
I have read that the people have blamed his time at Tottenham for the transformation in form and though his time in North London has not been as good as we all expected neither is it all bad.Eight goals in thirty three starts and four substitute appearances is hardly terrible for a midfielder especially one new to the premier league, though we might not think so now we should also be encouraged by the number of chances that he missed, many more than the eight taken in what could easily have been a tremendous season for him.

Hugo dismisses Tottenham exit talk. 14

Tottenham’s real star of the season Hugo Lloris has apparently caught the eye of the richest clubs in France with both Monaco and PSG supposedly taking an interest in his services. As usual the press seem to be keen on selling the best that Tottenham have, following the departures of Bale and Modric in the last two seasons our star attractions at the moment include Lloris, Vertonghen and Eriksen, so they are sure to be the players at the  centre of transfer rumours away from the club over the course of the summer.

Much of the recent speculation has surrounded the expected replacement for Tim Sherwood for next season with the Italian equivalent of the Mail causing a run on a supposed agreement with the sacked AC Milan coach Allegri having agreed a deal to be the next for the hotseat. apparently Baldini is the driving force behind the appointment a man who only last week was reported as being the next for the chop, so what is it to be? almost certainly neither.

Tottenham latest for 2014. 6

The New Year has only just begun but what have we already learned?

Judging from early reports perhaps the expected arrival of a new left back is not the obvious addition to the squad during this transfer window. There is little doubt that Danny Rose has been a massive loss for more than three months, if he has not yet firmly established his place in the starting lineup then he is surely very close to doing so and it seems that Zeki Fryers might yet be the one to be his back up. Tottenham have for too long had to rely upon Jan Vertonghen to step in and cover for Rose with the result being that our best central defender has been sacrificed. There have been numerous rumours surrounding a replacement for Rose  rather than back up which is really rather surprising. Where once another left back was a possibility Tim Sherwood seems set to put his trust in Fryers if the need arises.

Tottenham review v Stoke. 1

a 3-0 win is always an acceptable result but sometimes team selection, team and individual performances are all far more important, yesterday Tim Sherwood got far more right than wrong although it must of course be viewed in the context of it only being a Stoke team shorn of many of their first choice players. Of course you can only beat what is put in front of you and the Stoke team chosen did their utmost to make it a difficult game.

Despicable Me 3 featuring Martin Keown. 2

Quite why Martin Keown felt the need to comment unfavourably on a Tottenham player when apparently asked to do so for the Daily Mail most would have no idea. Why ask about Paulinho to an ex-gunner would make little sense unless the intention was to cause unrest and stir up more controversy. Even asking a player like Keown to comment on a player he knows little about who plays in a position he has no previous experience of, Keown a player bereft of any technical ability whose mental attitiude while on a football field was to stop gifted players by any means possible, including outside the laws of the game. Why not ask someone like Hoddle who has experience of playing in midfield and who was a Tottenham legend?

How long does it take to perform miracles? 21

We are all upset and disappointed by Sunday’s performance and the result, so much so that some supporters are calling for the head of AVB as they have become disillusioned with his tactics and his team both in terms of performance and style. You might have seen some of the ridiculous comments by some on this site and on almost every article written about Tottenham. There have been blogs, articles, talk-ins, forums and twitter comments pretty much all designed to decry the work of AVB. I have lost count of how many times I have read that the supporters want their Tottenham back, Tottenham a team renowned for playing the game the right way, playing with flair and scoring spectacular goals and lots of them.
