Is Jamie Redknapp fit to give opinion on football matters? 12

Posted on October 20, 2014 by Random Spurs Supporter

Just like last year and the year before that the media are on the back of Tottenham, again it’s the same old ringleaders, you know the ones, those with a grudge against Tottenham. Ex-Arsenal and Liverpool players that have infiltrated every football channel and show on TV and the football pages of almost all newspapers. On a daily basis some so called expert or other jumps on the bandwagon in an effort to destabilise the supporters of Tottenham,

Is this Soldado’s time? 1

Posted on October 17, 2014 by Tony

With Emanuel Adebayor currently en route to London after captaining Togo  in their qualifying fixtures for the African Cup of Nations and with Tottenham facing a trip to Manchester City in an early kick off, perhaps now might be the time to re-introduce Roberto Soldado to the first team. While many of our players have been away on International duty Soldado has had the opportunity to work with the remainder of the squad and to work on his fitness. No doubt he will have had the time to get in plenty of shooting practice and brush up on his link up play while Adebayor and Harry Kane have both been travelling thousands of miles, training and playing.

Loan attempts for “flop” Lamela have gone away. 8

Forty-five minutes football in far off Canada last Wednesday  finally put to bed all the stories of Italian interest in the services of Erik Lamela, until then he had been branded an expensive flop by all sections of the media and many of the richest clubs in Italy circled in the hope of picking up a bargain on loan with a view to buying at a knockdown price if a success. One half of excellent football in a friendly against a decent MLS club does not a star make, but to every Tottenham supporter he represents hope and expectation.

Inter to make move for Soldado! 0

Just as we learn that Adebayor has contracted malaria and his pre season is delayed along with a tour of the States it is being reported that Inter Milan are to make a move for last seasons misfiring hitman. No doubt the Italian “giants” will want Soldado on an initial one season loan with a view to buying at a knockdown price if he is even remotely successful. Just as another of the Italian giants Napoli want Michu for a year with a promise to buy him if he performs well for them, that’s better even than “sale and return” , they can’t possibly lose.

Sherwood backs Soldado to kick on but will drop him for next game! 0

Yesterday Roberto Soldado scored a superb strikers goal to take all three points in the fixture against Cardiff, the relief when he scored was incredibly obvious as he held his head in his hands thankful that his personal hell was finally over. It had been his first goal in nine frustrating games but he took his chance superbly and showed just what he is capable of. to be fair to the tottenham support they have rarely wavered in their support of the spanish striker and they were just as pleased as him and all the players who all rallied around him to enjoy his moment, adebayor being the leader of the moment calling the players around, a nice touch from a player considered to be extremely self centered.

Should Soldado start against Sheriff? 13

Posted on November 07, 2013 by Random Spurs Supporter

We all know that Roberto Soldado is the number one striker at Tottenham and the go too centre forward for AVB, not because of his huge transfer fee and salary but because he is the clubs top striker by a country mile. Jermain Defoe is attracting all the plaudits because of his goals so far this season and because his last effort tied him with the all time record holder at Tottenham Martin Chivers, but the truth of the matter is that all those goals have come against vastly inferior opposition rather than the banks of top defenders set up to prevent Tottenham and Soldado from scoring this season.

Villa v Tottenham Preview. 2

At last the second international break of the season is over and for once it was not only a productive period for England but also for Tottenham, all but one of the players called up for international duty returned in the knowledge that their country had either qualified for Brazil or were in the final playoffs later in the year. An added bonus has obviously been Andros Townsend who returns to Tottenham’s ranks as a genuine player of international class and on such a high his performances can only improve, at least in the short term.

Soldado omission from Spain squad could be a blessing for Tottenham. 0

Roberto Soldado finally signed for Tottenham late into the transfer window partially because of ongoing negotiations with his club of the time Valencia and also in part due to his involvement in the Confederations Cup with Spain which meant a late return to training. He eventually joined Tottenham on the 5th August and less than two weeks later and after just one pre-season friendly he was to make his league debut scoring the only goal of the game as we all know. Another couple of weeks passed and he was off again with Spain for the next round of International fixtures and more time away from his new club.

Soldado needs the outing against Anji. 10

Roberto Soldado is probably in need of a game like Anji on Thursday so as to ignite his goalscoring fortunes, nobody should doubt his special talent in that respect as well his undoubted ability in and around the box, but he needs another open game like the first leg of the qualifying fixture against Tiblisi, a game in which he scored a couple of real poachers goals.

Is it time to start Lamela? 2

Andros Townsend has come into the Tottenham team this season and has produced some fantastic performances, he has had the edge over every fullback he has faced and played a major part in team performances, but there is a problem. Townsend has had more shots this season than any other player but has yet to score a league goal, his accuracy is not in question but it is fair to say that most efforts have been from outside the box. Considering how much possession he has had and with so much advantage over opposing defenders in five appearances and 390 minutes on the pitch he has only created 7 chances, not bad but perhaps more should be expected of him, take Aaron Lennon for example who with just a single appearance created 3 chances and each of them from the byline.
