It’s now or never for England. 8

Spain, Cameroon and Australia all learned their fate last night and after just two games already know that their third fixture will be their last in this World Cup, at least Australia gave it a real go and the strike by Tim Cahill after a stunning Arjen Robben opener will be one of the goals of the tournament and maybe the pick of them come the end of the tournament. Spain were outclassed from start to finish by Chile and the reigning champions now leave after two poor performances that will see some major changes and the end of some international careers. Cameroon left with barely a whimper with another humiliating defeat at the hands of Croatia with Song and Tottenham’s own Assou-Ekotto letting themselves down badly with their lack of discipline, Benni headbutting his own teammate being the real low point.

England lifted by new generation. 3

For so long now the English media and retired professionals have led the public to believe that there was little hope for the national side, they have drummed into us all the point that that there are few players out there able to replace the ageing stars of so many other fruitless campaigns in the World Cup and European Championship. We have forever been informed that experience of Champions League football and years of top Premiership football is essential to make it in the England team and then along came Andros Townsend to ram those words down their throats. Townsend played in just twelve Premiership games for QPR last season and six for Tottenham this season so far, over the course of the past few years he has been involved at some point in just eleven Europa League games but because of injuries to Theo Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and even Aaron Lennon and for no other reason, Roy Hodgson took a chance on including Townsend in his England squad and because of what he produced in training actually chose him for duty in two vital games, how he has been rewarded with the player producing two outstanding performances and more than that, alongside Rooney, Sturridge and Welbeck helping to transform the team ethos into a fearless attacking side.

300,000 reasons per week why Bale is deserting Tottenham 4

Posted on August 07, 2013 by Scraggs

There has been some concern recently as to why Gareth Bale might be leaving Tottenham after two good and one exceptional seasons in more than six years at the club, it has been indicated that Real Madrid have promised him a six year contract and £150,000 per week, those discussions without permission from Tottenham and seemingly between the players agent and Madrid which is against regulations, that sum has always seemed a figure that could and would be matched by Tottenham in any new contract. For the past year Tottenham as a club, AVB and the squad have accommodated the strengths of Bale resulting in what seems betrayal by the player just as everything seemed to be falling into place.

So far a quiet day, some of the squad warmed up with a comfortable 6-0 win in Hong Kong to take third place in the competition, Jermaine Defoe started up front and helped himself to a hat-trick with other goals coming from an OG, Townsend and Dempsey. It was again a poor pitch but relatively safe after the Tottenham groundsman did his stuff and ensured that it was playable and more importantly safe.

£170m to spend and nobody to spend it on. United and Arsenal struggles. 6

Posted on July 27, 2013 by Guest Writer

There have been numerous reports of the enormous transfer funds available to two of the giants of English and European football, Manchester United have stated that a spend of £100m or more is easily handled and is permitted if the new coach David Moyes so wishes. Early on in the transfer window it was reported that a derisory offer was made for the England left back Leighton Baines, this was immediately refused and there was allegedly a backlash internally from Patrice Evra, most upset as would be expected, since then everything has been very quiet, no increased bids or talk of a possible deal.

Will Rooney’s move push Torres towards Tottenham? 12

Posted on July 21, 2013 by Scraggs

It certainly seems that Chelsea are intent on securing the services of Wayne Rooney having upped their offer to around £40m, this is becoming reminiscent of Chelsea’s pursuit of Luka Modric a couple of years back, that one ended in tears for the player and Chelsea but Tottenham supporters might wish their London neighbours more luck on this occasion.

Grabbing all the headlines today is an “angry and confused” Wayne Rooney who feels so mistreated that it is almost like constuctive dismissal the way he is being treated. Whether they be his own thoughts (doubtful) or another’s by the time he spat them out he had earned another £1000. If it is intended that we should all feel sorry for Rooney it is not working, when he is earning £35k each and every day from his United contract alone how can the ordinary person feel sympathy, so what that he is not the main man any longer, form has dropped for United and England and the hunger has perhaps gone from his game, and let us not forget a few short years back he stated that United as a club was not good enough for him and wanted out.

Tottenham prepare £40m assault on United for Rooney and Hernandez. 0

Let me guess, anybody actually reading this is shocked and disbelieving that it will happen or could happen and that is because it isn’t happening of course. Every single day Tottenham supporters pick up their paper or go online to see ever more ridiculous links to many of their players and even their new coach after just one season in the job.

Arsene Wenger has been letting out a few secrets quite recently, only today the admission that Arsenal made an horrendous mistake in choosing the vastly inferior Theo Walcott over Gareth Bale when both youngsters were available from Southampton ( ok he didn’t use those words but that is what I like to think he meant) .
