Just who is driving the Sherwood for the job agenda and why? 0

It seems pretty obvious that only a small percentage of Tottenham supporters originally backed the appointment of Tim Sherwood although for a period results managed to bolster those numbers, but since the turn of the year and especially after the high point of victory at Old Trafford his standing has slowly started to dwindle away and the vast majority are expecting the appointment of an experienced coach after the World Cup. In the space of just twenty games in charge Tottenham have now lost eight games but more importantly since the day that he took over just a little over three months ago Tottenham have been eliminated from three cup competitions and are outsiders for a top four position having dropped well off the pace.

Wenger talks up Sherwood credentials, I wonder why? 8

Over the past couple of seasons Tottenham have been too close for comfort to Arsenal in the chase for Champions League qualification, in fact each of the last two should have seen the trend change and Tottenham qualify at their expense. Because of this concerted challenge Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board have come under increasing pressure though Tottenham’s recent demise has taken the pressure off as their fans seem to simply be happy to see Tottenham’s struggles.

It’s a simple game, defence, midfield, attack but none work at Tottenham. 0

There no great mystery to coaching a football team, you get the players to do what they are best at and give them the stage and the confidence to go out and do what they know best, so says Tim Sherwood, the only problem is that most of Tottenham’s players are either bemused by his team selections, the formation and positions that they are asked to play or are, as each game passes, in fear of producing good football as the coach undermines them after each game as he tries to protect his job and image.

Whinging Sherwood’s lack of job credentials becoming obvious. 4

Though the media and many of ex pros still talk highly of Tim Sherwood and continue to suggest that Tottenham should stand by him now and for the coming season it is becoming clear that he really does not possess the skills to do the job at the highest level, at the beginning he managed to help turn a winning situation against West Ham in the Capital One Cup, leading 1-0 with less than fifteen minutes remaining he withdrew our most effective forward and goalscorer Adebayor and replaced him with a midfielder and within ten minutes the game turned on it’s head and we were eliminated form the cup at the quarter final stage.

The “silence is deafening” has been met with various reports that the Tottenham Board and Daniel Levy have sought to back Tim Sherwood despite the 4-0 reversal and second half capitulation at Chelsea. As you might expect all of these reports are contradictory but it does seem that they are little more than acknowledging that he has done reasonably well and that the club have no intention of replacing him this season, a far cry from ensuring he will be in charge come the beginning of next season.

Sherwood already looking for new job! 6

After the second half capitulation at Chelsea Sherwood firstly placed the blame firmly at the feet of the players that he chose to start the game, something that is rarely effective and is always treated as the wrong thing to do if you wish to retain the hearts and souls of your squad, it is all very well to air your views and opinions behind closed doors but to publicly humiliate your own players probably spells the end for him and Tottenham’s entire season.

Make or break month for Tim Sherwood 3

Though I believe the decision has probably already been made to bring in a new high profile coach for the upcoming season and that Van Gaal is the preferred option, there must always remain the incentive for the current coaching team to win through, obviously the initial incentive was money with an eighteen month contract handed to Sherwood for a job likely to last just six months BUT the fact remains that if he can lead the club into the Champions League against all the odds then he deserves to lead the squad into the new season.

Sherwood backs Soldado to kick on but will drop him for next game! 0

Yesterday Roberto Soldado scored a superb strikers goal to take all three points in the fixture against Cardiff, the relief when he scored was incredibly obvious as he held his head in his hands thankful that his personal hell was finally over. It had been his first goal in nine frustrating games but he took his chance superbly and showed just what he is capable of. to be fair to the tottenham support they have rarely wavered in their support of the spanish striker and they were just as pleased as him and all the players who all rallied around him to enjoy his moment, adebayor being the leader of the moment calling the players around, a nice touch from a player considered to be extremely self centered.

Rumours of done deal for new Tottenham coach way off the mark. 7

Reports from Italy seem to suggest that the current coach of Italy Cesare PrandelliĀ has agreed a deal to become the new man at the Lane immediately after the World Cup, the report in the Italian press fromĀ La Repubblica is probably simply yet more paper talk that has arisen from the Franco Baldini connection as Director of Football. Take a look at Prandelli’s achievements as a coach and you will see that he has a lesser success rate than Redknapp and Martin Jol in terms of silverware, in fact a couple of promotions is about it.
