Moutinho setting up move to Spurs? 0

Posted on July 01, 2012 by Tony

It is still widely expected that Villas Boas will be the next Tottenham coach and Joao Moutinho is saying all the right things if he wishes to move to Tottenham this year.

Rather than quotes from a close friend or his agent, he himself is extolling the virtues of Villas Boas as a great coach and tactician, and goes on to say he would work for him again tomorrow.

He has possibly nailed the argument that Villas Boas was not the problem at Chelsea and lays the blame squarely with players not being prepared to follow his instruction,or to fall into line with his methods. It is strange that you would pay so much for someone to transform the team, allegedly £13m,and then allow player power to continue.

Spurs and Levy need to make statement on Modric situation. 0

Posted on July 01, 2012 by Scraggs

All Spurs fans are waiting for some sort of statement from Tottenham on the Modric situation as the stories are appearing thick and fast,”Madrid will only pay £20m”,”Utd £22m”,”Modric will demand” and” Modric to force transfer with written transfer request”just some of the headlines being written.

Now Daniel Levy may well have given a “gentlemans agreement ” to Modric after last years debacle regarding Champions League or lack of it,he will honour that I’m sure but he would have said only if a club would pay the required amount for his services, and that is the important part.

Walcott to Tottenham, could it really happen? 0

Not a chance, who will be next Van Persie with Arsene Wnger as the assistant manager to Villas Boas. Its the calm before the storm as the transfer season opens at last and begins 2 months of speculation and leaks by players, agents and clubs in order to get a move or new contract, but ultimately earn more money.

We have now got to be prepared for all sorts of ridiculous rumour which is great fun for fans and earns a crust for the hacks of Fleet Street, but don’t believe a thing until a player signs on the dotted line, and an announcement has been put on the Tottenham site with pictures of the player in a Spurs shirt.

Breaking News:Blanc steps down as French coach is he heading to Spurs??? 0

Posted on June 30, 2012 by Tony

Have we all been sent a curve ball and Blanc is in fact heading to Spurs, reports have just begun to appear that he has stepped down from the position to allow for a new man to take the helm.Could this mean that he is in fact heading to Tottenham, nothing would surprise me.

The total lack of news coming from White Hart Lane speaks volumes,it has always been felt that this appointment has been done and dusted for some time and this might be the final twist.

All will be revealed and soon.we hope!!!!

AVB,Jan Vertonghen and Gylfi Sigurdsson soon to be officially announced 0

Posted on June 30, 2012 by Tony

Tottenham and reports on all the above have gone quiet for a couple of days now,a sure sign that announcements are immenent and that we shall soon see Villas Boas unveiled, flanked by 2 of the latest signings.

It was always likely that all these events would coincide at the beginning of July and so provide maximum effect. These are both young players actively pursued by many top clubs and will be a major coup for Tottenham to pull off both signings.

Spurs welcome any wonderkids but please live up to potential 0

Posted on June 30, 2012 by Tony

There is much speculation linking Tottenham with a £3m bid for the latest Crystal Palace wonderkid,a certain Reise Allassani. He has represented England at U16’s and is a small nippy winger/playmaker.

We have been down this road before with Crystal Palace it being a messy process, and thus far not very productive,it must be said that there has been much more success of late though, and just maybe the involvement of Tim Sherwood and Alex Inglethorpe, the under 18 manager,is starting to have the required effect.

Another Porto player tipped for Spurs 0

Posted on June 30, 2012 by Eddie S

It had to happen that once Villas Boas was appointed or close to being appointed that Spurs would be linked to his old Porto players, this time its Alvaro Pereira a left wingback. This to me is another fabricated story bearing in mind that there is already a certain Gareth Bale holding that position and who has just signed a new substantial 4 year contract.

Undoubtedly there must be one or two players at Porto who would be a great asset to Tottenham,Hulk being the obvious contender.Until such time as he is the one being tipped I doubt I shall read much into it.

Spurs greatest squad destroyed. 0

Posted on June 30, 2012 by Scraggs

Tottenham have assembled their best ever squad of players over the last 4 years, but the last 2 years have seen many of these players become more and more disillusioned to the point of having to get away from the club to re-establish themselves as quality footballers in their own right.

We can all name the Spurs A team of the last couple of seasons so no need to repeat it,but the bench was also so strong and contained players the envy of many top clubs ,even those regularly playing in the Champions League. The bench consisted of Defoe,Pavlyuchenko,Kranjar,Corluka,Huddlestone,Sandro,Gomes,Dos Santos,Dawson,Gallas,Crouch and Palacios. There are of course others deserved of mention but maybe not so high profile as those mentioned.

Its all about to kick off at Tottenham 0

Posted on June 30, 2012 by Tony

The 1st July sees the start of the transfer season in the English Premier League,it is also reported to be the day that Villas Boas is free of any contractual obligation to Chelsea, and so it will signal the start of a new era at Spurs.

The appointment of the new coach is likely to coincide with a couple or more signings, probably Sigurdsson and Vertonghen to start with.Others will follow soon after, probably a forward or 2 and I fully expect the marque signing that Harry was so fond of referring to,this time it will happen.

Villas Boas will have better players at Spurs 0

Posted on June 29, 2012 by Tony

Villas Boas if actually appointed as the new Spurs coach will have players in the squad much better suited to his vision of how the game should be played.

At chelsea he took charge of an ageing squad of players far to set in their ways to adapt to him and his methods, you know what they say “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”.
Many of these players have now been shown the door at chelsea although they did finally achieve their dream.
