Is Kaboul ready to fight for his spot? 2

Posted on August 02, 2014 by Random Spurs Supporter

Tottenham have already bought Eric Dier from Portugal for what is considered to be a bargain £4m, he is of course only 20 years of age and as such is a player for the future and not the central defender that we shall pin our hopes on this season. He will have opportunities in the first team particularly in the early rounds of European competition and cup games. We all know that we had some defensive issues last season and though some of the problems related to the set up and makeup of the team we also knew that we had constant injury problems and a distinct lack of pace in some areas to implement the formation required.

It took a while before Vlad Chiriches managed to clinch a deal to confirm his future as a Tottenham player as bizarrely the owner of his previous club put a block on the deal for a number of weeks while serving a prison sentence. Fortunately during visiting hours he was ultimately persuaded to accept a sufficient fee to allow the deal to happen and that is beginning to look like a fortunate situation for both parties.

Tottenham need Kaboul fit and ready. 12

Another appearance from Younes Kaboul, another comfortable performance on a difficult pitch and another game ended early by a niggling minor injury. This time a slight muscle strain ended his involvement but AVB spoke of it as nothing of concern and believing he will be ready to play again in a little over a week but rather than rush him back will let him settle for a couple of weeks more.

Possible delay in Vertonghen and Kaboul combo. 2

So the battle is on for Jan Vertonghen  to regain fitness for the start of the season and to take his place in the lineup alongside Younes Kaboul, an unfortunate slip in poor conditions in Hong Kong has possibly once again delayed what we all hope will be a wonderful defensive partnership.

Last season Kaboul was the recipient of an injury soon into the first game of the season and he did not reappear again, it has taken him almost a year but he is now back, the information being provided is that the ankle injury might possibly keep Vertonghen away for three to four weeks so with 22 days remaining before the season opener, make that 23 days because of the Sunday kick off, it could still happen if he is a quick healer and the medical staff can do their stuff.

Kaboul and Sandro are back-2 more £20m players 8

At long last Younes Kaboul our best defender the season before last is back in full training, he is up to speed and on a par with the rest of the squad. I for one cannot wait to see how his partnership with Jan Vertonghen develops and firmly believe that as a central defensive partnership they will become one of the very best in the league.

Kaboul future in doubt! 0

Let’s hope not, the report certainly doesn’t make a great deal of sense as it firstly suggests that he might not be the player he was prior to his injury, then links him with Real Madrid, Chelsea and PSG, and then goes on to suggest that his value is only something like £5m. This is a player just approaching his peak being just 27yrs old and so that seems very generous for any club looking to buy a French international defender.

Paulinho set for Tottenham as cloud of doubt clears. 0

‘I feel I am ready to experience football at the highest level in Europe and the opportunity to play in England is a dream,’ said the midfielder, who is set to become one of the Premier League’s brightest stars.

‘It’s a great pleasure to be linked to such a great club like Tottenham. ‘They have a reputation as one of the great clubs in England who play exciting, attacking football which suits my style.

‘I couldn’t turn them down once they made me an offer. It would be a great pleasure to play for Tottenham.’

Tottenham fans hoping no news is good news on Bale and Lennon. 0

With just five days left until Tottenham face Manchester City in a home fixture they would hope to win it will be a major boost if there was an announcement that Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon and even Jermain Defoe had in fact recovered from their injuries.

Time is ticking and apart from mention of methods being used to aid recovery there is very little coming out of White Hart Lane on the players progress, from past experience this does not bode well for any of the players ability to take part in this vital fixture. I am sure we can all remember that there have been many occasions when essential players have been rushed back only to breakdown again after just a short time on the pitch, or, there is an announcement just before kick off that the player cannot be risked and has fallen short in the race for fitness.

The return of the Kaboul and 1 or 2 others this week. 0

Younes Kaboul returned yesterday with 60 minutes of action with the under 21 development team against West Ham. Kaboul came through unscathed and will now be able to step up his training schedule which will hopefully soon see his return to the first team. Tottenham have certainly missed his prescence this season, even though Michael Dawson is considered strong in the air Younes Kaboul, based on last seasons statistics, actually fares much better.

Defoe out for 3 games shouldn’t be a problem. 0

Posted on April 03, 2013 by Tony

It has recently been reported that Jermain Defoe will miss the next three games which includes 2 Europa ties against Basel and a League game at home to Everton, now whilst it is always good to be able to call upon all your main strikers when the need arises this news does not really cause undue horror or concern. Clint Dempsey is once again fully fit and should be ready to fire on all cylinders as and when the need arises, Adebayor whilst still not producing the goals needed still has a couple more than Defoe since the turn of the year and in truth is not playing badly, he continues to work extremely hard for the good of the team.
