The return of the Kaboul and 1 or 2 others this week.

Posted on April 09, 2013 by Tony

Younes Kaboul returned yesterday with 60 minutes of action with the under 21 development team against West Ham. Kaboul came through unscathed and will now be able to step up his training schedule which will hopefully soon see his return to the first team. Tottenham have certainly missed his prescence this season, even though Michael Dawson is considered strong in the air Younes Kaboul, based on last seasons statistics, actually fares much better.

We have in recent games seen Michael Dawson struggle against the Swansea forward Michu, Anichebe of Everton and against Basel, their big centre forward won almost every duel in the air and so the return of Kaboul; will be most welcome. Playing such a high line under the regime of AVB will also better suit the qualities of Younes Kaboul as he has tremendous pace and strength and has been a big miss this season so far.

It seems that not only has Kaboul returned to action for Tottenham this week but based on the performance on Sunday against Everton Emmanuel Adebayor and Tom Huddlestone have also returned. Adebayor probably gave one of his best performances of the season, not just limited to workrate but he was also a persistent goal threat. It was one of those all round performances that we appreciated from him last season, one in which he scored goals, provided assists and was a constant thorn in defenders sides. Tom Huddlestone also returned to the fray as a late substitute for Moussa Dembele, with 20 minutes remaining and being a goal down “Hudd” prompted and passed Everton onto the back foot , his vision at times was brilliant as he hit 30, 40 or 50 yard passes to all areas of the pitch. It should be noted that many were unhappy with the withdrawal of Dembele but in truth he must have been exhausted as he had carried the fight to Everton for a solid 70 minutes with an impressive display AGAIN.

There have been some massive performances from so many Tottenham players this season and they are certainly capable of beating Basel come Thursday, thereafter, the return of Bale and Lennon together with Kaboul will certainly ensure that their next league fixture against Manchester City will be competitive and interesting and Chelsea will not be relishing the thought of facing Tottenham in what will almost certainly be a crucial game in the chase for Champions League football.

Come on Tottenham “Game on”
