The top four will look different next season.

Every Tottenham supporter is convinced that after falling agonisingly short in their quest for Champions League qualification these past 2 seasons AVB is the man to finally bring home that top four spot or better. After a slow start to last season, the loss of some key players and the influx of new recruits it took some time before he was able to steady the ship but once done he then took Tottenham to their best points total in a Premiership season. With less upheaval and a couple of new players it is fully expected that Tottenham will make a good start to the season for once and again improve their points total.

So we all expect good things from Tottenham and a top four position but at whose expense? These last few days Theo Walcott has promised the Arsenal supporters that they are at least up for the challenge and believes that they are in fact capable of winning the league this coming season so that is 2 places taken leaving just 2 more up for grabs.

Well a certain Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Brendan Rodgers have continuously talked up Liverpool’s chances of gatecrashing the Champions League, it seemed that every other week of last season that they were ready to pounce, but just today their newest young star and England cap Raheem Sterling seems convinced that they are ready, especially once he starts to score more goals, provides more assists and plays consistently well every game, that, he hopes will take Liverpool to the top where they “apparently” belong and should cement his place in the England team for the coming World Cup.

So there we have it two from Chelsea and the 2 Manchester clubs would seem to the teams fighting for the last Champions League spot. For any of these scenarios to happen Arsenal must claw back 20 points or more on Manchester United and Liverpool just a dozen or so on the 3 London clubs as well as overhaul Everton along the way. We all know it ain’t gonna happen, Liverpool might well close the gap slightly on a couple of the teams that finished above them, All of the 4 teams behind United should be closer to them as their lead in my opinion was a fair bit wider than their overall quality merited, City will probably spend their way to a higher points total and the 3 London clubs will ALL be left to fight it out for 2 places again.

The heading to this piece is obviously incorrect in that I believe the names of the top five clubs will not alter but the final placements might well do, in fact I’m certain.
