Tim “Woe is me” Sherwood is not confident!

Posted on May 10, 2014 by Scraggs

As we approach the end of the season Daniel Levy and all the other powers that be will have to make an important decision regarding the direction Tottenham will take in the new season, the key decision will be the identity of the man to coach the squad going forward. As we all know by now, Tim Sherwood has told us many times, he is in situ at the moment and has the best win ratio of any coach in the clubs history, forgetting to add that he has taken on the strongest squad assembled in decades and that he took over a team just 5 points from 4th and 8 points from top, differences that have deteriorated despite him ramming down our throats how well he has done.

As always Tim does not waste many moments in front of the media to talk about himself interrupting only briefly to knock player performances, attitudes or ability, yesterday was no different though he also found time to take a little dig at Daniel Levy suggesting that any relationship between the two that existed seems to be breaking down a little.

“My situation is that you have got players talking about me not being here next season. That’s how difficult the situation is to keep the players [in line]. It’s natural. If they knew I was here for five years or three years or, certainly, for next year, then they wouldn’t be saying that, would they?”  Tim Sherwood May 2014

Many have likened Sherwood to Harry Redknapp, loved by the media, prefers to play 4 4 2 and is one of the few that seems to get on reasonably well with Adebayor, but then both simply played him whenever he was fit. Redknapp had his favourites as we all know and Sherwwod is the same though hasn’t quite managed to stop himself  from taking digs at most of the players purchased in the summer as well as “The Beast” and Dembele who have both been on the receiving end and yet they were two of our best players before his arrival as coach. He sounds more and more like Redknapp with every passing interview and his comments are very similar to Harry’s pleading before he was sacked a couple of years back.

“‘The simple situation is, I’ve got a year left on my contract. It’s up to Tottenham whether they want to extend that contract or not. If they don’t extend it and I go into my last year, it’s not an easy one when players know you’ve only got a year left.

‘It’s not a case of me looking for security. What it’s about is players knowing you’ve only got year left on your contract and knowing that it doesn’t work, basically.” Harry Redknapp May 2012.

Presumably Sandro and the players do actually know the club’s intentions, some must have sought some explanation about remarks that have been made about them, Capoue must also fall into this category as both of them have been as told that their style does not fit in with his vision of how the team will play, worse still that information was made public by Sherwood himself and so remarks about his current predicament by some players shouldn’t come as a surprise and he is not therefore worthy of sympathy as Lineker and Parry amongst others have suggested.
Another of Sherwood’s “mates” in the media Paul Merson yesterday gave his predictions for the weekends results and most telling was this particular comment which if true just about sums up the lack of brain matter that some of them have, having said that I really cannot agree with the suggestion that entry into the Europa League is such a bad thing if we want to take part in the Champions League, both involve a midweek game.
Hopefully we shall soon see an end to this long drawn out saga and a new appointment made, someone who cares more about the club , the squad, the team, the players and the results rather than himself.

Haha bet you would like Arry back. you are definitely in the minority though as it is clearly the case that grinning tim is just not up to coaching the big boys.
