The “silence is deafening” has been met with various reports that the Tottenham Board and Daniel Levy have sought to back Tim Sherwood despite the 4-0 reversal and second half capitulation at Chelsea. As you might expect all of these reports are contradictory but it does seem that they are little more than acknowledging that he has done reasonably well and that the club have no intention of replacing him this season, a far cry from ensuring he will be in charge come the beginning of next season.

Some articles have implied that the job offer to Van Gaal and discussions with others are in fact all figments of imagination but consider that AVB left on the 16th December and Sherwood was not officially appointed until the 23rd December and that is a sufficient period for discussions to take place and for offers to be made, that the circumstances were not right for some, being a World Cup year in Brazil for National coaches and in the middle of a season for coaches at club level almost certainly led to the eventual appointment.

Any suggestion that Sherwood’s remit did not include a position in the top four seems quite ridiculous as what other point was there then for disposing of AVB if it wasn’t designed to do so! Was his remit also to be knocked out of the two domestic cup competitions at the first available opportunity?

As well as the never ending saga of the coaches position at Tottenham it appears that tTottenham have decided to appeal the red card suffered by Younes Kaboul, this has probably been prompted by the fact that Michael Dawson has now picked up an injury and will almost certainly be unavailable for the rest of the month, what chance Jan Vertonghen being switched to left back again any time soon? he is the last centre half standing at the moment as season defining games come thick and fast. though even the penalty decision was harsh it is understandable why it was given  though the sending off was not so clear cut as Eto was never in control of the ball and there was a covering player so Kaboul was not the last man, having said that I know my money will be on the card standing.

The U21’s had a good day yesterday scoring five goals, two to Harry Kane who is banging on the first team door according to Sherwood, perhaps this weeks game against Benfica will be the ideal opportunity for him to showcase his skills.

Alex Pritchard, currently on loan at Swindon where he has proven to be a huge success and instrumental in much of the attacking fluidity associated with the team, has been nominated as one of the Young Players of the Year, with seven goals to his name, almost all spectacular. Still only 20 years of age he surely has a great future ahead of him and will perhaps become a major influence in the Tottenham first team one day.

Finally with all this talk of lack of harmony in the camp take a look at this video, one or two of the voices and faces are instantly recognisable and it is now that the squad and the fans need to stand together in an attempt to save the season.

Love the video if only it was like that in the first team dressing room. Until recently the team seemed to be together but it seems a very different place at the moment.
