Tottenham final starting eleven of season.

Last game and last chance saloon albeit relying on Newcastle finding the performance that they are capable of but have rarely provided this season. Had the boot been on the other foot the thought of having to win at Newcastle would fill anyone with dread as they are still a team with some superb talent, let us not forget that they spent the best part of £20m in the winter window and brought in 4 or 5 first team players.

If Newcastle approach this fixture in the right way then Arsenal will at the very least have more than a few worrying moments before the final whistle goes. It should not be a foregone conclusion as Newcastle are not as poor as their recent form suggests and Arsenal are not as good as they have been in the past.

Of major concern will be Tottenham actually taking all 3 points as their recent form whilst fairly good has not been convincing and they have had to rely all too often on late goals, this cannot go on as they cannot expect to find the solution on every occasion and the fear is that this most important of fixtures could go terribly wrong.

On this particular occasion I believe that AVB should choose a team to really go for the throat of Sunderland, just imagine the extra pressure loaded onto Arsenal if Tottenham can score a couple of quick goals, that will quickly be relayed to Newcastle and just might cause some panic in the Arsenal ranks. Similarly just imagine that Newcastle manage to do the unthinkable and take the lead, unless Tottenham have the points in the bag at that point then the pressure is all on them.

Sunderland will likely come to White Hart Lane with a plan of containment and quick breaks and will be difficult to breakdown and so it would be madness to play narrow, with that in mind this is the team and formation that should at least complete Tottenham’s part of the deal.

GK Lloris—–back four–Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto  midfield three of–Parker, Huddlestone and Dembele, Sigurdsson wide left, Adebayor central and Bale wide right. this should allow Dembele in particular and Parker the freedom to advance whilst Huddlestone finds the wide positions with his passing. Both wide men can then cut in with the ball or attack the danger areas when the player on the opposite flank has possession. The bench is filled with game changers in the form of Holtby, Carroll, Defoe, Dempsey and Lennon.

Whatever happens at Newcastle is out of our hands but it would be madness not to ensure that Tottenham at least fulfill their part of the bargain and win their match.
