Tottenham go level at top. That’s how to start a season.

Another penalty, another three points and another goal for Soldado, so much for all those who thought that Tottenham might struggle without their superstar or until all the newcomers had become accustomed to premiership football.

Paulinho, Capoue, Chadli and Soldado have taken to it like a duck to water and even though it is early days it does seem as though there is even more to come from them all. Paulinho on another day might have been taking home the match ball, he was continually thwarted by Vorm  and had another effort go narrowly wide, he was even able to burst forward in the 90th minute to once again test the keeper.

Not for one minute do I believe Tottenham have reached anything like their peak as they are actually learning to play together as a team, there have been so many changes to last seasons squad especiallywhen you take into account the return of players out on loan. We all expect at least another couple of players to join over the course of the next several days and they too will have to be integrated.

This is the type of start to the season that would have meant Champions League football last year and next, already five points better off than last year and six better than the year before. At the moment it seems that Lloris is at the top of his game, the defence fairly comfortable and settled, the midfield immense, Paulinho looks an absolute certainty to score plenty of goals, he just appears everywhere, even Dembele and Capoue managed shots on target. Given time and with the introduction of another goalscorer to play around Soldado there is every chance of even more progression, the fixture against Arsenal might just be coming a little too early in the squads development, but it should still be good enough to get some sort of result.

Of course we would all like to see a better goal difference and perhaps a few more clear cut chances created for our new number nine but that will come in time. Right now the table looks pretty good and there is the hope that tomorrow’s result goes against Chelsea to such an extent that they fall behind us in the table.

    looking strong

any thoughts on the lack of goals? Im sort of scared of the lack of creativity down the middle. Soldado makes some fantastic runs that just need some unlocking.

creating chances Paulinho had plenty last night even Dembele and Townsend had efforts, similar to last season until it clicked into place end of October. High hopes for Holtby this season and Sigurdsson has linked quite well with Soldado. AVB will find a way with far better players.
