Tottenham need Kaboul fit and ready.

Posted on October 04, 2013 by Random Spurs Supporter

Another appearance from Younes Kaboul, another comfortable performance on a difficult pitch and another game ended early by a niggling minor injury. This time a slight muscle strain ended his involvement but AVB spoke of it as nothing of concern and believing he will be ready to play again in a little over a week but rather than rush him back will let him settle for a couple of weeks more.

With the internationals coming up and with such a strong squad there is no immediate concern and it will give Vlad Chiriches more opportunities to grow into the position within the team, there might be a little more concern though than many are letting on, AVB has stated in the past that four central defenders is the optimum number for the squad but if Kaboul continues to break down during every game he plays it will only add more pressure on the other three and the need to keep them fit becomes a major concern.

kaboulThere is absolutely no way that Tottenham would be able to maintain a challenge on so many fronts with just three central defenders to rely upon if Kaboul does have an ongoing problem, should one of the others pick up a knock the thought of  the remaining pair having to play in almost every game is simply not feasible.

It is fairly strange that Tottenham have not tied Younes down to a new contract when his current deal apparently expires at the end of this season. when fit Younes Kaboul would be most supporters choice to accompany Vertonghen at the back, he is quick, immensely strong and superb in the air, as well as that he is comfortable in possession.

Hopefully this is a situation that will resolve itself and soon, failing which Tottenham and AVB will be considering another dip into the market come January for a central defender.

As good a player he is,a cb is needed in jan.Cant risk hoping he stays fit. He’s in his last year of contract and I don’t c it being extended

  2. craig says:

Needs to be sorted him and Jan would have been the perfect partnership but there must be a problem with his fitness. plays eighty mins. and then the muscle strain every time. Just can’t afford to take the chance because whenever they do it comes back to haunt always.

  3. mick says:

such a shame if he can’t cut it any more.

  4. Eric says:

what do u ppl make of fryers? m impressed of what I have so far seen of him.He needs to play more cup games n may be with time can be answer to the lb cover up position

    • steve says:

Probably needs to follow the Kyle Walker /Danny Rose route and wouldn’t be at all surprised if he was loaned out come January and once the preliminary stages of all the cups are over. the club must really rate him to have taken the trouble they did. Seems to be improving with every game he plays , he might be the reason the club don’t want to spend a fortune on a new LB

    • mick says:

great potential but needs more games, with a decent run in carling cup and the group stages of Europe he will improve to a level that might enable him to step up more. quick and imposing but needs experience.

      • Eric says:

Man u will vet a Lb in Jan so butner will go.He’s got epl experience playing imp matches for a big clubHe wouldn’t cost a fortune. What do u guys think ?

        • Tony says:

would rather have the player utd will go after, assume it’s baines.

        • mick says:

hello eric, you really rate this butner you have called it before but why are united not giving him a chance!!!!!

          • eric says:

Hey mick Man u want a new lb n evra is way too experienced n proven to let go.All were stunned when they signed cause he wasn’t known and not playing in the dutch team but he’s proven them all wrong. He’s played in some big matches, pacy which is needed cause he attacks well(unlike rose).Moyes is adamant on a new lb n we will never get a better chance to sign a pl proven, young n cheap option.

  5. mick says:

just looked him up, 6 league appearances and 2 goals for united suggests he is an attacking fullback.might be the answer although paper talk today is both after Baines! Can’t really see him coming to spurs myself.

  6. Eric says:

Can’t see Levy approving the crazy money they want for an almost 30 year old.Soldado was a rarity
