Tottenham prepare Sheriff shootout for top spot.Just who will play?

Posted on November 06, 2013 by Eddie S

Tomorrow evening Tottenham will face the team that has turned out to have been their hardest competitors so far in Europe this season, Sheriff visit White Hart Lane just a couple of weeks after a stern test between the two in Moldova resulted in a hard fought and just about deserved 2-0 victory to Tottenham.

Tottenham and AVB have come under some very stern criticism from thee media and authorities in relation to the handling of the Hugo Lloris injury at Everton as well as the lack of goals scored especially in the Premier League. AVB dragged the supporters back into the realms of reality by pointing out to them the fact that during the first encounter with Hull their criticism was really not warranted and did nothing for the moral of a team fighting on all fronts to bring the success that we all crave, he was duly rewarded with a much better atmosphere the following Wednesday,  most reports suggest that the crowd actually found the improved atmosphere and extra involvement really enjoyable.I am fully expecting a tremendous atmosphere on Thursday in preparation for drowning out the noisy supporters of Newcastle, who are next up, and doing their bit to encourage the team to ever greater performances.

AVB has already stated that he fully intends to give his youngsters their chance in the competition just as soon as qualification is confirmed, a draw tomorrow will be enough and a win will ensure that Tottenham finish as group winners and so being a consummate professional it is doubtful that the starting lineup will contain many Academy players but if all goes to plan the team that troops off at the end could well include a couple. With some players still looking to find their feet and others looking for game time to regain match fitness after injury we shall once again see plenty of changes but still an extremely strong lineup.

Based upon the current situation that we are aware of in relation to injuries this is how the team might look for the start tomorrow although provided Tottenham have a healthy lead and some control over proceeding  18 yr old Bentaleb, who has been on the bench recently, and Harry Kane should see some decent action, in my view there is a strong argument to start Kane from the off after an impressive outing from the bench against Hull in the cup last week.

Many argue that AVB should be protecting more of his squad from the rigours of cup competition so as to concentrate on the league much as Harry Redknapp did, but are these people the ones that pay a small fortune to watch these games with ticket, parking and transport prices being what they are and that’s without the time and effort put in to travel to and forth. AVb is not shortchanging the fans and trusting and using his entire squad, that is how it should be in modern day football and not a case of simply rolling over and exiting competitions without a fight, Hull were one of the pre-season favourites for relegation and every point must count but they gave it their all to progress and that is how it should be.

Every team chosen by AVB in every competition has been balanced and full of quality from front to back and tomorrow will be no exception and this is how we think it will look and subsequently worth watching.

I would play Kane as striker, time to see just what he can do and if he is ready.

  2. Eric says:

Naughton Chadli Kane start for me.Walker has to be rested

    • Eddie S says:

I think Naughton and Chadli are injured or I would agree.. Would love to see Kane start as the striker but Defoe will probably get the nod. Got a feeling from some of his recent comments that he might be heading to the hammers in january.

      • Eric says:

Hey Eddie wouldn’t mind that. He’s never made it at the top n with some decent fee he will help free some space for a top quality back up striker like pato or chicharito

        • Boobaspur says:

I signed Alex Pato for my PES2013 Spurs team long before I ever heard of him – he was awesome (or maybe I was).

However I also signed Eto and was disgusted when Chelsea signed him for real. Happy to let them have him now.

          • Tony says:

not sure about that one as it seems that his club can’t wait to offload him so soon after buying, Never really managed to live up to the hype and his price tags and yet think he is still only 24. Perhaps a loan with a right to buy might be the way forward.
