Tottenham team to face Villa.

Posted on October 19, 2013 by Eddie S

After what seems like an eternity Tottenham return to action following the West Ham defeat no doubt anxious to put matters right at the first attempt. Fortunately most of the squad return to action following World Cup highs with only Christian Eriksen out of contention for next summers tournament.

AVB will have a few difficult decisions to make although the return of Roberto Soldado won’t be one of them, he is guaranteed to return having had the benefit of a couple of weeks training followed by a decent settling in period at his new club. Aaron Lennon is now back in training and will hopefully be fit enough to get some time on the pitch. Danny Rose and Etienne Capoue are still apparently a week away from returning although Younes Kaboul will have a late fitness test.

Choosing a team will grow to be more difficult as each player returns from injury, and with so many hoping to impress their national coaches and be on that plane to Brazil performances should be enhanced. All AVB has to be really concerned with is picking the right team for each occasion and getting the balance right between performance, rest, rotation and the competition on any given day.

It would probably be a little foolish not to use the time he has had with those in the squad not involved in the internationals to prepare some for the game against Villa, Soldado has already been mentioned but Lennon must surely come into the team to provide him with ammunition from the flank, Naughton will continue in place of Rose and surely the beast is now ready to step out, Sandro has got to start.

I am expecting a few changes for this game and perhaps a couple of slight tweaks to the system, possibly the most difficult decision that AVB will have to make is whether to continue with Andros Townsend while he is still floating on air or give him a break to recuperate a little from all the adulation that has come his way and a very nice £8m contract for another four years with the club.

Last time out Jermain Defoe started but the best he can hope for on this occasion will be on the bench and he might well be sitting alongside Adebayor who looks close to completing his rehabilitation into the squad.

think you have to play townsend he is on fire right now and will be on such a high. whendid he last actually have a poor game he is so consistent thinking back to QPR when he joined them, every game for Spurs so far and both for England. consistently high standard is up with the best.

    • Boobaspur says:

It can only be fcuking gooners voting this comment down., like someone here said before., have they no site of their own to go to?

      • Tony says:

If they are reading about Spurs so much then they are really worried about Spurs.5 /6 years ago when they finished thirty plus points ahead they worried about chavs and utd now we are direct competitors and threatening to eclipse them. Ozil panic buy proves point.

  3. macgooner says:

How many goals ye going to rack up today spurs

    • Tony says:

Sarcasm. dont get so carried away things can only get worse for you.

    • Jide says:

The problem with Woolwich gooners is that you lot cannot keep out of Spurs business, even your dumb general manager, Gadzidis, at your AGM used the sale of Bale to blind you buffoons about your failures at a club; and to type, you lot bought it. The joke was on you all. We sold that player for the highest price ever. You have played just one top team, us. You got lucky, you won. I am sure that smug smile will be wiped off your face soon. Of that I have no doubt. We won 0-2 by the way. COYS!

      • Tony says:

Jide you are 100% right and that is how it is.They only spent big on Ozil to secure wenger new contractand all the fans have fallen for it.before that it was gazidis and wenger out and now gazidis is a “legend” and wenger top man again.at the end of it all they will still have no silverware.will have still spent about the same as last few seasons but wenger will be earning lots more and have a shiny new contract. You gooners are so easily fooled and cant evrn see it.

  4. Gilzeann says:

Disgusting flare incident. We deserve to be docked points for that !

  5. macgooner says:

    • Tony says:

United are in serious trouble and i dont think they will recover. Before the season started we had been saying on this site that United would struggle.London liverpool and their neighbours are all ahead of them now.

  6. Eric says:

3 points that’s all that matters

  7. Jide says:

We played well today. We must play Sandro as long as he is fit. I am so happy for Soldado. This is the start of plenty of goals.
