Tottenham: The giant rises.

Posted on August 20, 2013 by Random Spurs Supporter

Whether they sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid or not Tottenham have put down a marker that they are now a club to be reckoned with and that they aim to compete with every team that finished above them last season. They are still unable to offer the monetary rewards that the others can finance but they do pay good wages and more importantly they offer ambition.

Until such time as the new stadium has been built and the extra income from bigger audiences is available Daniel Levy will continue to drive the club forward and compete favourably for some very good players and especially those with potential. As the club gains more notoriety across the world and their fame grows then so will their turnover and that will then enable them to continue to compete. Success breeds success and that is the momentum that Tottenham, Levy and AVB are trying to create

Daniel Levy has already felt the anguish of losing his best players to Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool in the past but from the point in time when he held firm against Chelsea over Modric he has proved more than capable of holding back the tide, he allowed Modric to leave for Madrid last season only because Tottenham failed to qualify for the Champions League and because he was going to a foreign league. Now with Gareth Bale he has maintained his stance and would probably retain him but for what is believed to be a ridiculous sum of money. Levy must look at the bigger picture, unless Bale is willing to sign a new extended contract then his value slumps significantly next summer, he can retain him and hope that he will make the difference and ensure a top four position and perhaps some silverware, but what if he picks up an injury and is unable to play for any period of time, he could pick up a serious injury and not be able to pay for a year or so like Kaboul, no new contract and he leaves for next to nothing when fit.

Tottenham  are going for it and by the end of this transfer window seem intent on having as good a squad as any in the Premier League, a set of players with a very modest average age, most of the new signings being nowhere near their peak and while providing fantastic service for the club for the next few years will all potentially offer Tottenham the opportunity of selling for a profit in future years.

No club is currently more proactive than Tottenham, the set up and facilities are second to none and once the new stadium project is completed then the sky really could be the limit. The coaching set up and development Academy is superb, they have one of the best coaches in the world in AVB, are close to assembling a great squad and should they secure a Champions League spot they really will have arrived.

Tottenham have in the past been one of the giants of the game, there have been some very lean times for far too long, there have been several years of fluctuating fortunes but finally there seems light at the end of the tunnel and the famous Tottenham Hotspur are about to emerge.
