Week 21 Premier League match predictions

Posted on January 14, 2017 by Eddie S

With just 18 fixtures remaining and all to play for let’s take a look and attempt to predict the outcome of todays matches. Just maybe the transfer shenanigans that have cropped up in this transfer window will come back to bite some and that might well open up opportunities at both ends of the table.

This is how I see Saturdays fixtures panning out:-

Tottenham Hotspur West Bromwich Albion  12:30 – Both teams are performing well this season and especially over the course of the last month or so. A difficult game to predict based upon recent results between the two teams which might suggest a low scoring draw. I strongly fancy Tottenham this time as you might expect but more for the quality and power  now in the team. 3-1.

Burnley Southampton 15:00– Finding it difficult to decide between the two teams, Burnley have a decent home record and are producing some decent performances at times. Southampton have yet again overcome the loss of key staff and in midweek should have really booked their place at Wembley with a fine performance against Liverpool. Have to go  1-1.

Hull City Bournemouth 15:00- New coach and optimism as well as the usual reaction to a new man in charge should ensure a decent response from the team who have been a little unlucky of late. Hull are up against a decent Bournemouth side led superbly by Eddie Howe. Fully expecting a high scoring game with one side nicking it by the odd goal in five and that team I believe will be Bournemouth.

Sunderland Stoke City 15:00- Another tough one to predict with a case for both teams to earn all three points. Home advantage and the form of Jermaine Defoe in particular leads me to go for Sunderland by a narrow margin 2-1

Swansea City Arsenal 15:00- Another team in trouble and another new man in charge. Surprisingly to some Swansea are in deep trouble this season and it is essential that they start to pick up points soon, unfortunately they are up against one of the teams able to exploit weaknesses and I cannot see anything other than a comfortable 2-0 win for Arsenal today.

Watford Middlesbrough 15:00- Two teams with work to do if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle. Watford look brittle defensively but seem to have the players more likely to score the goals needed especially if those players can find their form of last season, Middlesborough on the other hand have a very respectable defence but are struggling badly at the other end of the pitch. 1-1

West Ham United Crystal Palace 15:00- It’s all gone “pear-shaped” as they say for West Ham. The shambles that is their new stadium and the behaviour of their star player will have either demoralised or made them more determined than ever to get themselves out of the mess they might yet find themselves in. Palace will know just how to deal with the situation and Allardyce will set them up to cause problems. This will be a real battle but I think Bilic’s team will respond to win 2-1.

Leicester City Chelsea 17:30- The current Champions versus the Champions elect, or that is what the media would have had us believe just a couple of days ago, and then, Diego Costa drops the bombshell that at this moment gives the chasing pack that little bit more belief. Not very long ago Leicester showed that they still have it them to produce the sort of performance to upset the best by embarrassing Manchester City, I doubt they will do the same against Chelsea but fully expect them to earn a 2-2 draw.

So that’s what I think, it won’t be long before we know how results actually pan out.
