Wenger out, Sherwood out! Smiling Martinez set to dominate.

It’s funny how Arsenal supporters were bold and brassy on Tottenham sites only a couple of weeks back but are now conspicuous by their total absence, too busy posting comments of unhappiness and unrest about Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board to worry about us as their season has turned to mush, well almost, though they still have the small matter of the FA Cup to compete for. That drubbing at Chelsea has finally brought home the truth to their supporters that they are a million miles from being title competitors and that the purchase of their ¬£43m superstar was as we said at the time simply a cover up and a panic buy to take the pressure off the management team.

Winning the FA Cup is a realistic possibility as though they have been fortunate with winning home ties they have had some big teams to take on and the semi final draw has also been most favourable to them, however take a look at the reaction of their fans to the 6-0 defeat to Chelsea and last nights performance and draw to Swansea, there is a genuine fear that Everton might pinch their Champions League spot or worse still Tottenham.

The calls for Wenger out are yet again building and there have been unconfirmed reports that he has told his players that this might be his final season. The hope at the moment is that Arsenal can retain 4th place and win the FA Cup in the knowledge that their supporters will as usual settle and the same routine will begin again.

If Arsenal fail in either one of their remaining targets then surely Arsene Wenger will be done for, already the vultures are circling and Mezut Ozil will probably be the scapegoat alongside him. It has to be said that many of the big purchases of the past two transfer windows have failed to shine, Tottenham have a few  from which much more was expected and the same can be said of United, even Negredo who started so well for City seems to have been overshadowed of late by Aguero when fit and Dzeko. The difference though is that there is still support for almost all of the newcomers from their respective supporters whereas Ozil has been turned on by Arsenal supporters and is becoming a figure of huge disappointment, many actually questioning his commitment.

As things stand Everton have it all to do to catch Arsenal with Tottenham even further back in the pecking order but the next couple of fixtures for the three of them make for interesting reading, the positions are unlikely to change in just those two games but the gap could widen or just perhaps we might see all three once again back in the race for a place in that top four.

There are loud calls for Wenger out, similar calls for Sherwood but Martinez plods happily along lauded by Everton supporters all happy with his work and contribution this season no matter what the outcome, who would not bet on a happy ship being the winners come the end of the season?
