What might Levy be up to on his favourite day?

Posted on September 02, 2013 by Guest Writer

With so much transfer activity having already been done over the course of the summer and finally the “big one” just yesterday we arrive on the last day, traditionally Daniel Levy’s most effective and a time when he generally pulls a rabbit from the hat.

Yesterdays result was obviously disappointing as was the sale of last seasons main man but irrespective of both of those events there is still much to be encouraged about. The Tottenham squad is still incredibly strong and just needs some time for all the players and the coaching staff to become accustomed to the requirements and abilities of individuals, they now all need to be moulded into an effective unit.

AVB and his people will be working hard before the next fixture even though virtually ever member of the squad will be heading off for International duty, the limited time before the next fixture will be frenetic but vitally important. Some of the reaction to yesterdays defeat has been quite ridiculous and needs to be put into context, Arsenal are currently a top four club and playing in the Champions League, they were playing on home territory in yesterdays derby and importantly able to field a team already honed into each others strengths and weaknesses having been together for some time. There is no doubt that on the day Arsenal deserved the result though Tottenham had every chance of getting some sort of result until the last minute, the had more possession and more shots but not the intuitive play needed of  a team, that will come as they train and play together.

With just hours left of this transfer window and with money still available from this incredible spell of activity what might Tottenham supporters be expecting from today, there could well be another sale or two and almost certainly a number of loans, Tom Carroll looks set to go to a good club offering him first team action on a regular basis that will enable him to continue his progression. Rumour has it that Tom Ince might be close to signing  whilst remaining with Blackpool for the season to continue learning.

The surprise will likely come in the form of a replacement for Adebayor, a new forward to offer alternatives to Soldado, whether it be in the form of a young up and coming forward or a loanee with considerable experience remains to be seen. There will surely be a new left back arriving, it always seemed likely to be Coentrao but that isn’t going to happen as he is set on remaining with Madrid. No doubt Franco Baldini and AVB have a plan up their sleeve and we shall just have to see how the day pans out.

  1. Terrence Carter says:

Forget the past and the sulks. Get Modric back – the fans will forgive him as soon as he opens defences as only he can. Levy should swallow his pride.

    • Tony says:

couldn’t get him even if we wanted to high hopes for Eriksen though he is a creator.Holtby needs his chance once fit and sigurdsson has a bit of creativity in his locker. not sure why the panic from everyone didn’t have a player like that last year and did ok and modric didn’t actually have many assists.
